Brookline Adopts Climate Action Plan Targeting Net-Zero By 2050

BROOKLINE — Brookline has formally adopted a new Climate Action and Resiliency Plan, a 10-year strategy the town says charts its path to net-zero emissions by 2050, town officials announced this week.

The Town of Brookline announced adoption of its 2026 Climate Action and Resiliency Plan, described by officials as a comprehensive 10-year strategy mapping out how the town will reduce emissions over the coming decade with an eventual net-zero target of 2050. The plan is highlighted on the town's website alongside the August edition of the Town Administrator's newsletter, which rounds up town updates and community resources as summer winds down.

COMMUNITY & ARTS

The Brookline Public Library has lined up a run of fall programming. On Tuesday, Aug. 25, the library's Summer Sessions series continues with Nature Collaging, tied to this year's "Plant a Seed, Read" summer theme. On Thursday, Sept. 10, the library's Brookline Village location will screen the documentary "The Librarians" in Hunneman Hall, followed by a panel discussion on book challenges and bans in Massachusetts. The same day brings Art and Lettering: Ocean Tails, an ocean-themed lettering workshop requiring no drawing experience.

A Back to School Immunization Clinic for children ages 1 to 18 follows on Wednesday, Aug. 26.
