Griggs Park Suspends Green Dog Hours For Construction Starting Tuesday

BROOKLINE — Griggs Park's off-leash Green Dog Hours will be suspended starting Tuesday as the town begins scheduled construction work at the park, according to a notice posted this week.

Griggs Park's off-leash Green Dog Hours will be suspended starting Tuesday, Aug. 18, as scheduled construction-related work gets underway at the park, the town said in a notice posted this week. No end date for the closure was listed; dog owners are directed to check the Department of Public Works page for updates.

The Brookline Public Library is rounding out its summer reading season with a run of hands-on programs. A Stuffed Animal Sleepover for young children is set for Monday, Aug. 17, the same day the library's Council on Aging Book Group meets for its regular senior discussion session. On Tuesday, Aug. 25, the library's Plant a Seed, Read summer theme continues with a nature-collage craft session for kids. Looking toward fall, the library has booked "The Librarians," a documentary on book challenges and bans, for a Sept. 10 screening at its Brookline Village branch followed by a panel discussion, alongside an Ocean Tails lettering craft and a brush-lettering workshop taught by calligrapher Debby Reelitz, both also scheduled for Sept. 10.
