BROOKLINE — The Brookline Select Board voted to reaffirm its vote placing an operating override question on the May ballot and locked in a tight mailing schedule for the required information booklet. Town Counsel Joe Callan said the 30,000-piece mailer must go out April 20, Patriots Day, leaving voters about 15 days before the election. First Assistant Town Counsel Jonathan Simpson briefed members on campaign finance rules limiting use of town email lists and titles ahead of the vote, prompting pushback from members Paul Warren and John Van Skoyak over the scope of the guidance, with Van Skoyak saying "I'm concerned we're overreaching." The board also unanimously created an override stabilization fund and authorized staff to bring the Transportation Board a proposal raising parking fines to $40, with escalating penalties up to $70, projected to generate about $1.06 million in new revenue.
