School Committee · Meeting of May 13, 2026

Brookline School Committee voted unanimously to appoint Aaron Osborne as deputy superintendent for finance and administration. Osborne, currently finance and operations director at Berlin-Boylston Regional Schools, was recommended by Superintendent Bella Wong after a search run with HR consultant Suzanne Kenney. Member Jesse Hefter thanked Wong for completing the hire "in great timing" amid the district's post-override budget strain.

Separately, staff member Hal Mason presented a redesigned six-day rotating high school schedule, replacing the current five-day week, built to satisfy a state finding that the school missed the 990-hour instructional-time requirement. The new schedule adds two minutes of passing time between classes, to seven minutes, and locks in fixed daily start and end times. Osborne said "nothing brings me more joy than seeing classrooms and children learning" when asked what drives his budget work.
