Select Board · Meeting of May 12, 2026

BROOKLINE — The Brookline Select Board elected David Pearlman chair and voted to raise parking fines for the first time since 2007. Outgoing chair Bernard Greene, who served six years and three months, handed over to Pearlman after new members Amanda Zimmerman (9,225 votes) and Anthony Buono (7,593 votes) were sworn in. The board voted 5-0 to raise most parking fines to $45 and fines for sidewalk, crosswalk and double parking to $50, expected to generate roughly $1 million annually.

Buono, who wanted all fines at $50, said he was "not super comfortable with the current fee structure, given the fact that the majority of these are under where inflation would put them in 2007." The board also raised building permit fees, approved a five-year Blue Bikes contract with Lyft, and voted 4-1 to fund $300,000 in golf course driving-range lighting over Buono's objection.
