Select Board · Meeting of April 28, 2026

Brookline Select Board clears Chestnut Hill West zoning, locks in no-override budget. The board voted unanimously to approve amended zoning allowing buildings up to 14 stories and a memorandum of agreement with developer City Realty, including a $150,000 retail support fund, sending the deal to town meeting this spring. Separately, members adopted a $439.9 million no-override fiscal 2027 budget 4-0, with Paul Warren abstaining, while holding a $449.7 million override version in reserve for the $23.25 million override question voters decide next week.

The town administrator, identified in the meeting only as "Chaz," said the fire department will pull an engine company out of service this summer without an override. The session was also Warren's last after three years on the board, which appointed Pam Lodish to the Fisher Hill West Uses Advisory Committee and asked the MBTA to limit noisy Green Line work after a resident urged members to "vote on this as though you live across the street."
