Brookline Adopts 10-Year Climate Action and Resiliency Plan
The Town of Brookline has formally adopted its 2026 Climate Action and Resiliency Plan, a 10-year strategy aimed at reaching net-zero emissions by 2050, while the Public Library of Brookline pushes ahead with a full slate of summer programming for families.

Brookline officials announced adoption of the 2026 Climate Action and Resiliency Plan, described by the town as a comprehensive 10-year strategy charting a path to net-zero emissions by 2050. The plan's rollout comes as the town's July Town Administrator newsletter also highlighted other summer initiatives, including the full reopening of the town Golf Course's 18 holes, a new Public Health Plaza, extreme heat safety guidance, the Rec Summer Concert Series, Yoga in the Park, and the Summer Eats Program.
The Department of Public Works continues its bi-weekly Household Hazardous and Universal Waste disposal program at the Brookline Transfer Station on Newton Street, with the next drop-off session scheduled for Tuesday, July 28.

The Brookline Public Library has a busy stretch of programming ahead. On Monday, July 27, at 2 p.m., the library hosts an interactive Ed Popielarczyk Magic Show. Children's librarian Leah leads a Summer Storytime on Tuesday, July 28, featuring stories, songs, and movement activities.
Families with incoming kindergartners can join a Kindergarten Transition Meetup for the Florida Ruffin Ridley School on Sunday, July 26, featuring a read-aloud session. Looking further ahead, the library's "Plant a Seed, Read!" summer reading theme continues Thursday, July 30, with a seed-planting and pot-decorating activity, followed by a Seed Mosaics program with Hands on Nature on Tuesday, August 4, for kids ages five and up. A Community Catch-up social hour with local guest speakers is set for the Putterham branch on Thursday, August 6.
