Brookline Reopens Renovated Lotta Bradburn Schick Park
BROOKLINE — The Brookline Parks and Open Space Division announced this week that Lotta Bradburn Schick Park has reopened to the public following a comprehensive renovation, capping a project the town highlighted alongside a new Public Health Plaza and extreme-heat safety guidance in its July newsletter.

The Parks and Open Space Division said the park officially reopened on July 10 after the renovation project wrapped, giving residents access to the refreshed space for the rest of the summer.
The town's July Town Administrator newsletter also touted a new Public Health Plaza and included extreme-heat safety tips for residents as summer temperatures climb, alongside reminders about the Rec Department's Summer Concert Series, Yoga in the Park and the Summer Eats Program. Town Hall's roof construction project and the town's newly adopted climate plan, both covered in recent days, continued without new developments reported.

All three Public Library of Brookline branches — Brookline Village, Coolidge Corner and Putterham — closed Wednesday, July 22, for a professional development day, a one-day closure affecting patrons across town.
Looking ahead, the library has booked professional magician Ed Popielarczyk for an interactive magic show on Monday, July 27. Popielarczyk, also a balloon sculptor, flea circus ringmaster and storyteller, has entertained children and family audiences for more than three decades, according to the library's announcement.

The DPW's next Household Hazardous Waste and Universal Waste drop-off is Tuesday, July 28, at the Brookline Transfer Station, 815 Newton Street, accepting items such as batteries, oil-based paint, fuels, pesticides and small electronics.
