Select Board · Meeting of July 14, 2026
Brookline's Select Board voted 5-0 to dissolve seven town committees, folding three into a single new oversight panel chaired by member Anthony Buono. The board eliminated the standalone Vision Zero Committee the same night member Amanda Zimmerman mourned the death of Louisa Gagg, a 36-year-old Boston bike-share planner killed by a truck in Mission Hill, saying Brookline "continue[s] to struggle to put action to our Vision Zero goals." Bernard Greene said DPW's work with the Transportation Board, not a standalone panel, will carry safety efforts forward. The board also cleared a Town Hall electrification project a resident said tops $2 million, reappointed three members to the Brookline Commission for Women, and set November 17 as the opening night of the 2026 Special Town Meeting.
