Town Hall Roof Construction Begins After Delay
BROOKLINE — Brookline's Town Hall began long-delayed roof construction Monday, July 20, kicking off a stretch of summer municipal work even as residents brace for real estate and personal property tax bills due next month.

The Town Hall Roof Construction Project got underway Monday after officials pushed the start date back from the prior week. The town has posted guidance for residents who need to visit Town Hall during the work, noting the building remains open but visitors should expect some disruption while crews are on site.
Separately, the town reminds property owners that real estate and personal property tax bills, mailed June 30, are due Aug. 3. Bills sent after that date without payment are subject to the usual late penalties under state tax law.

A Brookline storyteller has teamed up with the Brookline Commission for the Arts on "Entering Brookline," a new project aiming to turn residents' personal memories into a digital archive of the town's history. The initiative, also backed by a Massachusetts arts grant, invites residents to contribute their own recollections of life in town as it builds out the collection.

All three Public Library of Brookline branches will close Wednesday, July 22, for a professional development day. Before that, the library hosts a full slate Tuesday, July 21: Summer Storytime with children's librarian Leah in the morning, a free Summer Eats breakfast and lunch program with the Matt Heaton Family Concert at Brookline Avenue Playground, and a Tech Tuesday drop-in session for help with Libby, Hoopla and other tech questions. The Summer Eats program continues weekdays through Aug. 14 at Brookline Avenue Playground, with breakfast from 10-11 a.m. and lunch from noon-1 p.m.
Looking further out, magician Ed Popielarczyk brings an interactive family magic show to the library Monday, July 27. The Department of Public Works holds its next Household Hazardous Waste drop-off Tuesday, July 28, at the Brookline Transfer Station, 815 Newton St., and the town's Energy Advocate holds office hours Wednesday, July 29.
