Brookline Schools Set Sept. 3 First Day, Early Dismissal Sept. 4
Brookline Public Schools has confirmed Sept. 3 as the first day of classes for the new school year, with an early dismissal set for Sept. 4, as the town's library and Energy Advocate line up a full slate of programming for the week ahead.

Brookline Public Schools has set Wednesday, Sept. 3, as the first day of classes for the 2026-27 school year, according to the district's calendar. Grades PreK through 8 will be dismissed early on Thursday, Sept. 4, for a teacher collaboration day, giving staff time to plan before the full year gets underway.

The Public Library of Brookline has a full lineup planned for Monday, Aug. 17. The town's Energy Advocate, Caroline Staudt, will hold office hours at the library, while young patrons can bring a favorite stuffed animal to the library's Stuffed Animal Sleepover, held in Hunneman Hall. The Council on Aging's book group also meets that day, in person or virtually, for a senior discussion of recent award titles.
